LAVA Launches Two Dual-Port Serial PCI Express Cards
Toronto, ON, September 29, 2008— LAVA Computer MFG Inc. today announced the release of its second and third in a line of PCI Express expansion cards. The LAVA DSerial-PCIe is a two-port serial card that is the natural line extension of our current set of 3-port cards, namely the DSerial-PCI, DSerial-PCI/LP, DSerial-PCI 3.3 Volt, and DSerial-PCI Powered cards.
The LAVA DSerial-PCIe provides serial port expansion utilizing the PCI Express bus, both for current server technology as well as for specialized PC desktop models. LAVA is launching both the full-height and low-profile versions concurrently to the reseller marketplace.
"The DSerial (2-port) technology has been the mainstay of LAVA's sales for years. We fully expect these cards to be very succesful as well. With over 25 years of industry-leading experience in the design and manufacture of serial port technology in North America, we are pleased to offer our supply chain a follow-on technology for their customers," said Bob Figol, Vice President, LAVA Computer MFG Inc. "The strength of this technology is that it is a high-speed serial that is backwardly compatible with PCI applications."
The features of this new card include:
• Form factor: 1x. Will fit into any PCIe slot.
• Form factor: LAVA's full-height PCIe cards are engineered to fit full height cases.
• Driver support: Win 2000/XP/Vista
• Serial support: RS232 support, for 115.2 kbps. Ships with 16550 UART implementation.
• LAVA Lifetime Warranty
Also, unlike many PCIe serial cards on the market, the voltage levels on serial ports of the LAVA DSerial-PCIe and LAVA DSerial-PCIe/LP are enough to give the best possible signalling at any given cable length.
The LAVA DSerial-PCIe cards, like all LAVA products, are covered by the LAVA Lifetime Warranty and LAVA Technical Support is staffed by technical engineers to answer questions or troubleshoot installations Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. EST.
